LOCAL POLICIES
The Stakes are High
The Community Party believes that only policies set by people in West Dunbartonshire can truly serve the people of West Dunbartonshire.
Our policies are set by members who live or work in West Dunbartonshire ensuring local issues are addressed by local solutions.
EQUALITY
For a Better Future
The Community Party is proud to support and push for change throughout the community.
We feel we are very poorly represented locally and this is reflected in our position in most of the statistics that matter to our quality of life.
And yet in a West Dumbartonshire we have people working together in food banks, people working with children on the autism spectrum, people trying to improve our environment by reclaiming some ground and growing vegetables, people running film nights in Dumbarton,and people who are helping people all over the world in their struggle for equality.
We deserve so much better and as equality is at the heart of this we are a party who welcomes people from all different backgrounds and beliefs and wants everyone to know the community party is a party open to all .
We in the Community Party wish all people in West Dunbartonshire solidarity and respect and will be with you all the way.
The Environment
Key Policy
The Community Party wants to ensure our area is the most environmentally friendly council in Scotland,we also believe that this push can be financially rewarding to our people and our area.
We must stop seeing the environment as either an add on to contracts or in most instances as totally excluded from any contracts being agreed at council.
We want a green element to be placed in all contract tenders ensuring that not only our council but our contractors look at environmental friendly ways to deliver for our people.
We will look to maintain our parks, common grounds and cemeteries. We see Levengrove, Christie and our other parks not as a financial strain on our finite resources but as beautiful areas locally where we can enjoy a peaceful walk next to award winning flower beds, this isnt just about natural beauty this is about people with health problems and those of us who need a safe beautiful place to retreat to from all that life throws at us.
The environment seems to always be one that council goes to to plunder when times are tight, we must ensure that the environment takes its rightful place as a valuable resource in all council deliberations.

NATIONALISATION
The Stakes are High
Although a national issue, the Community Party believe in order to ensure a prosperous West Dunbartonshire that public transport and other services should be wholey owned where possible by the state and that this ownership will only help to make West Dunbatrtonshire a better fairer area to stay.

EDUCATION
For a Better Future
The Community Party is proud to stand alongside parents and guardians who look to have their child educated in a school which is local and meets their needs.
We are totally opposed to Education being used as a way to find budget cuts and will oppose any changes to education that is not based on the educational improvement for children.
No balancing your books on the backs of our kids education!
UNIONISED WORKFORCE
Key Policy
The Community Party believe that a unionised workforce results in a better paid better represented workforce and would encourage workers to join and work together to improve the working conditions of all people in West Dunbartonshire!

NUCLEAR WEAPONS
The Stakes are High
the Community party believe that weapons of mass destruction have no place on the streets of West Dunbartonshire.
Although a National Issue the Community Party are also totally opposed to weapons of mass destruction and will vote and support organisations who look to eradicate these weapons from the world scene.

Independence
For a Better Future
The Community Party believe that as many decisions as possible should be performed at a local level and that only decisions which cannot be performed at a more local level should be deferred nationally.
With this in mind most members believe that the best way to serve West Dunbartinshire would be as part of an Independent Scotland but we also have members that feel that West Dunbartonshire would be best served as part of the larger United kingdom.
As this is a national issue members are granted freedom to both express and back whatever view on Scottish Independence they so choose in order to secure a better future for West Dunbartonshire.
LOCAL HEALTH SERVICES
Key Policy
The Community Party believe that only a fully staffed and funded Vale of Leven Hospital can provide the health services that the people of West Dunbartonshire deserve.
We will support any organisations or movements who look to reestablish this extraordinary health provision in our community.
